Complacency

Word of the day: Complacency-a feeling of being satisfied with how things are and not wanting to try to make them better

Life takes intentional effort to maintain forward motion.  Improvement and growth are not static factors.  My spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical development- including my career, my finances, my marriage, my family life are all my responsibility to grow and nurture.

I do not have the luxury of managing these items one at a time, they are a list of daily objectives I must balance and maintain if I am to experience meaningful growth and lasting change.  Comfort cannot be my goal, nor is there a end to which I can be satisfied.  This is a process, a movement- this is life.  It is the very work of God being done in me- I must cooperate.

Place Your Life Before God ] So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.  ~Romans 12:2 (The Message)

Where are you feeling comfortable?  Identify areas of your life where you are settling for the status quo.
Choose how best to advance in that area right now.  You know what you need to do, don't you?  Don't flinch here- admit you may have many excellent excuses for not working on this- yet we find time for the things that are truly important to us.  Don't be passive.  Engage.  You may have to eliminate some good things to be able to focus on the great things.
