Pray

"When it is hardest to pray that is when you need to pray the hardest."

I have read many a book by better men and women than myself on prayer.  They include books of prayers, books on how to approach God, books on why and how God will answer your prayers, books on different types of pray, why we should pray, when and where we should pray, even praying without ceasing.

There is little that can be said about prayer that equals actually praying.  I know Christians that have been believers longer than I have been alive who are very uncomfortable praying in public.  Public speaking phobias aside, there is no reason anybody who has actually spent regular time in prayer would refuse, sorry.  That would be like not being willing to say I love you to your mate in public.  If you have done it enough, it becomes second nature and doing in in front of others should cause you no concern.

I know very few Christians that would claim that they pray regularly or enough.  When crisis comes (I know this personally) and you find yourself needing badly to hear from God and recognize his voice and the "pump has not been primed" to open the flow of communication, you will kick yourself for not cultivating a daily conversation with God that moves your relationship deeper.

There simply is no substitute for a developed communication line.  Many a prayer life has begun in the desert of the soul, but why not start now?

The LORD is far from the wicked: but he hears the prayer of the righteous. Proverbs 15:29

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  Philippians 4:6

Spending Time

What would we do with 6 more hours in a day if we had it?

Work more? Spend time working on hobbies?  Play with the kids?  Go back to college?

If we are honest, we don't make the best use of the time we DO have, nevermind having 6 more hours a day.  Be it the tyranny of a routine, habits like watching TV, surfing the web or necessities like earning a living and sleeping, there is plenty of slack to be managed in our daily lives.

How can you make more of the time you have?  What if you came to realize that time, not money, is the crucial currency- and deep relationships, are the "tender" that makes you rich?

Huh...All that from thinking about "In God We Trust" on a dollar bill.

"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?   And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?"  Matthew 6:26-27
